Katie Holmes has done it again. Her hair is the talk of the town. This time it’s even shorter.
Here’s the history of Katie’s Holmes haircuts:
A. At first she had a longish bob but without the dramatic points that Posh was sporting.
B. Then she had an Anna Wintour/Louise Brooks bob.
C. Now, she looks like Demi Moore circa Ghost era.
There aren’t many picture available yet. But you can see in this photo, it looks really cute on her.

Colored Eye Shadow
A bold eye look is hot for spring. 1960s-inspired colors mixed with a smoky eye are the key look for the upcoming warm weather.
Try Sephora’s eye shadow duo #3, a peacock blue/azure blue shimmery pair. Each shadow is enriched with green tea to soothe the eye area. Finish the eye with a black or charcoal liner and lots of black mascara for the latest hot look straight off the runway.
Stained Lips
That just-bitten look is in for spring — glossy and with just a hint of strong color underneath.
Try Stila’s Cherry Crush Lip Stain. It’s sort of a “mood” product that adapts to each person’s pH levels to create a unique look just for you. Scented and flavored like a cherry, Stila’s lip stain also contains pomegranate extracts and vitamins A, C and E for their antioxidant benefits.
If you’d rather create the look with makeup that you already own. Try coating your lips with clear lip gloss, then dabbing on a little plum colored lip stick to create a sheer but glossy stained look.
Rosy Cheeks
Flushed cheeks can be so sexy. Try Cargo’s SuedeBlush in Montebello, a mix of three cheek colors pressed together in one compact. Montebello contains light pink, rose, and neutral beige. So pretty.
Be sure to balance this trend with the others mentioned above. You don’t want to mix all of these tips into one look or you’ll be flashing back to the 1980s.
Strong Brows
We’ve seen strong brows all over the fall runways and now they are carrying over to spring. Fuller brows can give a face a more youthful look. Celebrity brow artist Anastasia Soare has created her own line of brow-care products.
Try her Tweezers Anonymous kit, a 12-step kit for serious brows. It’s perfect for over-pluckers. The kit contains everything you need to fill in sparse areas and create fuller, richer brows.
Frizz-Free Hair
Whether you like your hair straight and sleek or with soft shiny curls, the key word for spring is control. Frizz is out and shiny, smooth hair is definitely in.
Try T3’s mini flat iron. It’s a compact ceramic iron that is small enough for travel and durable enough for everyday use. Use it to smooth the hair shaft, then give a little twist to perk up the ends. You’ll look fun and feminine.

Why? Because she is adorable and has a lively intelligence in her beauty.
Kirsten’s lovely face is accented in this photo with romantic makeup in soft, pretty colors. The lilac eye shadow really makes her blue eyes pop. She looks like a delicate little flower.
Here is how beautyriot.com suggests copying her look:
Foundation / Concealer
Start with clean, exfoliated skin. After allowing moisturizer to soak in, use a light-coverage, sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer to even out skin where necessary.
Apply concealer to the inner corners of the eyes and underneath to cover dark circles. Apply a small amount of concealer to the eyelid as an eyeshadow base.
Apply pressed powder, in a shade matching your foundation, generously over concealer and lightly over foundation.
Blush
Apply a petal pink or rose blush. Apply color on the apples of your cheeks if your face is full, or higher on the cheekbones if your face is slim. Blend well.
Eyelid
Apply a light lavender color from the lid to the crease.
Crease
Apply your lid shade to the crease.
Hilite
Use a delicate gold lightly on the brow bone. Use just enough to brighten your eyes. You can sweep a touch along the lower lash line for some glamour, if you like. Blend very well.
Eyeliner
Choose a dark brown or black/brown shade if your coloring is warm. If your coloring is cool, you can use a charcoal shade or dark gray. Apply a thin line to the top lash line, from corner to corner. Use a light touch and get the color in between the lashes. You can try dotting your way across the lash line and then going back and filling in to create one continuous line.
Now apply a very delicate line to the lower lashline. To soften both lines just a bit, blur lightly with a cosmetic sponge or a soft brush.
Finally, delicately trace the inner corners of your eyes for a professional look.
Brows
Choose a pencil or powder that is just a bit darker than your hair color. Start by defining the arch of each brow. Step back and look at your entire face in the mirror, and then fill in the rest of the brow as necessary.
Lashes
Curl the upper lashes. Coat upper and lower lashes two or three times with a black thickening mascara.
Lips
To get glass-smooth lips, try brushing them very gently with an old, soft toothbrush. Then apply petroleum jelly and allow it to soak in for 30 or more minutes.
Choose a sheer lip color in a rose or petal pink shade that coordinates with your blush. Apply the color in very light layers until you get a “bee-stung” look. Next apply a coat or two of clear or tinted gloss.

I’ve always wanted purple hair. I was just reading a post about the many hair looks of Betty the Geek and it reminded me that I still want purple hair.
One time I had it accidentally. I colored my hair at the last minute for a Christmas party with a temporary Clairol kit that was supposed to rinse out in 6 shampoos. It looked great for the party, but after one shampoo I thought I noticed a purple glow. Not the punk purple I had always dreamed of.
I remember facing a mirror with a friend and she quietly asked, “Is your hair purple?” My response, “IT IS, ISN’T IT? OH MY GOD.” I immediately called Clairol and pleaded for help. The colorist told me to buy color remover and Clairol refunded my money for the color, the remover, anything I needed to correct it. But it didn’t work. I ended up just coloring over it with dark brown permanent color.
Now, I’m afraid I’m too old to have purple hair. Perhaps a few stripes in the front?

As a Virgo, I like to make lists. Here is my list of 10 things I need for fall.
- black turtleneck sweater - preferably with dolman sleeves (I love Dolman sleeves!)
- new black ankle boots - I can never have enough. I have a pretty pair with a stiletto heel. But I need a pair with a thicker, more casual heel.
- black pashmina - to keep me warm at my office. (hmm, black is becoming a theme) I’m tired of wearing jackets. Shawls make me feel more feminine, like I’m in a Jane Austen novel. I guess Elizabeth Bennett wouldn’t wear black unless she was in mourning though. Maybe, I’ll get a second one in a bright fuchsia.
- new lipsticks - I’m tired of glosses with little or no color. I want strong lips this fall, probably from Chanel, because Chanel is my life.
- high-waisted jeans - I’m so glad to see the high waist come back. I’m tired of the low-waisted androgynous look. It only looks good on models and teenagers.
- something shiny - perhaps a satin blouse or bias-cut satin skirt.
- wide patent leather belt with a big buckle - this will look great around my black turtleneck dolman sleeve sweater.
- houndstooth skirt - I love black-and-white houndstooth. This will look so cute with black tights, my black turtleneck dolman sleeve sweater and black booties.
- a new haircut - My hair is really long right now. And while I enjoy having it halfway down my back and the male attention it attracts, I’m tired of fixing it. I’m thinking of the Katie Holmes cut, a not-too-short bob. Always the debate: Do I want pretty hair accessories, or should I just cut it off?
- Wolford tights - a modern, sexy way to dress up your leg for fall and add texture to your wardrobe.
What do you want for fall?

In an effort to have shiny hair, I think I’ve tried every product on the market from glossing shampoos to hot oil treatments.
But all I really had to do was buy shimmering hair spray.
It’s such a simple concept. Why didn’t I think of this? It’s brilliant, in more ways than one.

Get Halle Berry’s hot look from the night of her Oscar win with pixie hair and subtle pretty makeup. She keeps her look natural and pretty. The drama is all in the dress and her fit, curvaceous figure.
From Beauty Riot:
FACE
Foundation / Concealer
After moisturizing, apply concealer to the inner corners of the eyes and underneath to cover dark circles. Apply a small amount of concealer to the eyelid for a base foundation before applying shadow.
Use a foundation shade as close to your natural skin tone as possible. Blend well.
Blush
Use a pink or mauve shade blush, depending upon which compliments your skintone better. You should apply your blush in the style that best suits your face. Round faces look better with blush applied to the apple of the cheek, while narrower faces can take blush on the cheekbone. Apply blush one light layer at a time until you have a delicate, pink glow.
EYES
Eyelid
Apply a pearly light gold from the lid to the crease. Dot some in the inner corners of the eyes for extra glamour.
Next apply a mauve or rose matte shadow to the outer half of each lid.
Crease
Apply a medium mauve or rose in the crease from corner to corner.
Hilite
Apply a cream or vanilla color just below the brow, from underneath the arch to the outer corner.
Eyeliner
Choose either a dark chocolate brown or deep wine color eyeliner. You can either use a sharp pencil, or use a wet brush dipped in a powder shadow.
Apply a thin line to the top lash line, from corner to corner. Use a light touch and get the color in between the lashes. You can try dotting your way across the lashline and then going back and filling in to create one continuous line. Repeat until your lashline is nicely filled in, without allowing the line to get too heavy. You can thicken the line a little at the outer half of the lashline to add glamour and widen eyes. Now trace around the inner corner for a really professional look.
Continue with a light hand to apply liner across the bottom lashline getting in between lashes like with the top lashline. Use a small sponge or a folded tissue to blur and fade the line.
Brows
Use a brow wax, with a small brush to shape and fill in, or pencil. Start by defining the arch and then fill in the rest as necessary.
Lashes
Curl lashes and coat two or three times with a black, lengthening mascara.
LIPS
To get glass-smooth lips, try brushing them very gently with an old, soft toothbrush. Then apply petroleum jelly and allow it to soak in for 30 or more minutes.
Choose a matching lipliner and lipstick in a light pink or mauve shade that matches your blush as closely as possible. Apply one coat of the lipstick and blot with tissue, then apply a second coat. Then, line the lips if necessary. Cover your lips with a coat or two of clear gloss.
