American Idol of Book Publishing

First Chapters Writing Competition
Have you got a novel inside you waiting to get out? and Touchstone Fireside, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Inc., have teamed up to present the First Chapters Writing Competition.

It’s a book-writing contest. You submit your completed manuscript, and then the online judges read the first chapter. If you make it to the next round, they read your second chapter, then your third.

After three rounds, the finalists’ books are read in their entirety.

The winner gets $5,000, a book contract with Touchstone Fireside, and distribution by Borders.

Now, I don’t know if the winner is getting a good deal or not. But anything that encourages people to get moving on their novels can’t be all bad.

    Exciting! Thanks for the info.
