Remembering Kitty Carlisle Hart

Kitty CarlisleĀ Hart
Kitty Carlisle Hart, Broadway actress, opera singer, film star, television regular, cabaret performer, patron of the arts and wife of the late Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Moss Hart died at age 96.

Besides being an all-around performer, Hart also served 20 years on the New York State Council on the Arts and received the National Medal of Arts from President George Bush, Sr.

Her most famous film role was as the young opera singer in the Marx Brothers comedy A Night at the Opera. Audiences also know Hart from her 20 years on the television game show To Tell the Truth.

Always the elegant leading lady, the fashionable Ms. Hart was forever perfectly put-together, dressed to the nines, with coifed hair and a big smile.

Here’s a nice interview Hart did for American Heritage when she was a wee lass of 94.
