Classic Nail Polish Colors

Inque from Batman BeyondMy favorite nail polish at the moment is Chanel’s Jasmine. It’s a creamy light French pink. French pink has little more beige in it, you know, like the color of a French ballet slipper.

This got me thinking about classic nail polish colors. When Chanel introduced Vamp, it became an instant classic. It was meant to be a seasonal shade but women demanded it more and more. It has become a standard at manicurists everywhere.

A French manicure is always a classic. But keep the nails short. Long French manicures can make you look like a Mafioso housewife.

Short nails are also best for the darker colors too, like Vamp, or the blacks that are making a comeback. Can’t find Chanel’s Black Satin? Maybelline has a black nail color called Onyx Rush.

Here are some good polishes to try in a range of prices:

Chanel Nail Colour in Jasmine and Vamp – $19

Sephora Easy French Manicure Duos in pink or beige – $8

Maybelline Express Finish 60 Second Nail Color in Onyx Rush – $4.50
